Hi all, we just got back from several hours reading in Cafe Puccini in San Francisco -- split pea soup and gelato -- yum.

@Lisa my Aunt Lilly was indeed quite a card. And the household, let's just say that after reading the Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire I started referring to grandmother Dorothy as Blanche DuBois.

@LBR, yes it was not lost on me that high fashion was being brought to Central Wisconsin from the big cities -- Chicago and NY.

@savvysavingbytes it's more fun dragging it out a bit, don't you think?

@Hannah, I know, how cool is that to be a style consultant in 1934!

After we were already driving to SF it occurred to me I should have attributed the paper -- Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune Friday, March 9, 1934. Off to fix this now.

I love that it was a wig---and am very interested to learn more about her story (and how she fits in with yours)!

Wouldn't we all love to be deemed a "style authority."

Speaking of ending with a cliff-hanger... Here I am all set to read about this ancient "on the ball" woman wearing a wig in this oddball household and boom -- The END.

Here's hoping your next post continues this story...

I'm looking forward to more on Lilly T.

I looked at that detail photo and thought "I love that expression. She looks like quite a card."

And then you mentioned her expression in your next line. I laughed out loud.
